Rhymers' Waltz


Working in Threes



  • Students learn a ¾ body percussion rhythm pattern to use with a simple song.
  • Students learn how to rhyme – using only 2 words - and use their own rhymes in the song.
There is also a simple tuned and untuned percussion arrangement for them to add to the song. and vocal and backing tracks. A video track is available with Book 4 showing how to perform the simple body percussion rhythm pattern.

Your students will have a lot of fun with this lesson.

 

Musical Elements:
Beat, rhythm, pitch, tempo

Objectives:
Students gain a feel for groups of 3 beats ('3 beats in the bar').

Activities:
Listening, rapping, singing, moving,
playing, creating (organising sound),
composing

Useful vocab:
Beat, rhythm, rap, rhyme, break,
rhythm pattern, threes, waltz,
accent, bar, pitch, performance

You will need:
A copy of the pages from the book (below);
The tracks from CD 4 (below);
drum, triangle, tuned percussion
