THE CRAFTY FOXA free activity from KIDS IN CAMELOT by Bartlett-Billings-Leehy-O’Mara From Bushfire Press Kids in Camelot is based on Mark Twain's A Conneticutt Yankee in King Arthur's Court and tells the tale of a boy (Tristan) who, having fallen asleep doing his history homework, wakes up in Camelot. In the show, during the Camelot County Fair, the Cornish Cavaliers perform a routine to the music. The Cavaliers can be any school group: gymnasts, aerobics team, callisthenics team, kids with tumbling, ribbon-twirling, juggling or other circus skills … or just your grade. The idea is to have the kids put together a routine that fits the sections of the music. This can be as basic as having 3 groups - each performing when their part is playing.
THE STYLE OF THE MUSIC As the show has a modern boy in a medieval setting, the music represents this by having both medieval instruments (fiddles, recorders, occarinas and tambourines) as well as modern instruments (acoustic & electric guitars & bass, drum kit). It is composed in a medieval form but performed in a modern arrangement. The dance/movement routine can reflect this if required. OTHER EXAMPLES OF OLD MEETS NEW Any folk-rock band, such as Steeleye Span, Fairport Convention, The Bushwhackers
